Identifying Japanese Knotweed in winter

Loss of leaves and dry brittle stems

In the winter months, the Japanese Knotweed canes will begin to die back and the plant will lose its leaves, leaving dried brittle canes.

Normally at the end of December – beginning of January is the best time to cut the canes down without disturbing the rhizome (roots) and burning in a controlled manner.

Always speak to a qualified expert beforehand.
